My name is Billy Khachadourian. In 2019 at 32 years old I bought a road bike and it changed my life. Since then I’ve gone from a casual gym goer to a weekend warrior to an Ironman, and just about everything in between. I’ve been realizing my dream of becoming an athlete again with all the ups and downs that come with the dedication and process. During this time I’ve relied heavily on the writings and stories of others for growth, motivation, and to avoid the common pitfalls people experience in making this lifestyle change.
This page is an outlet for the lessons I’ve learned along the way and the introspective thoughts that bounce around in my head building pressure, waiting for a vent to be let out.
I imagine the bulk of this blog will be focused on the sport of triathlon with a blend of useful information, introspective thoughts, reviews of things I try, how-tos, event reports, and anything else I deem relevant at the time.
As mentioned in my first post on this blog, this project came about from the same mantra I apply to a training session I dread on a cold early morning when I’m comfortable under my blankets and hitting the snooze button is the sweetest temptation on Earth…. Just start.
Overcome the dread and just start moving, it will be painful at first but after a few steps things everything starts to warm up, things become lubricated, endorphins are released. Before you know it you’re high on endorphins imaging how the thought of staying in bed even crossed your mind in the first place. When the session is over a sense of pride and accomplishment wash over you and over time the results of that work instills a sense of confidence in yourself and takes you closer to your goal.
And for that reason, I’m going to just start writing.
